Terms of sale
These are the terms you buy on. They are short on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email hello@hourslikethese.com and ask before you buy.
Who you are buying from
Hours Like These is a trading name of Magic Story Club Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14801841, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
Email: hello@hourslikethese.com. A person reads it, usually the same day.
What you are buying
A single file: a PDF activity pack you download and keep. There is nothing physical, nothing to post, no subscription and no account to make.
Each pack is one A4 PDF of a few megabytes; its page says how many pages it has, and the first one is 20. It opens on any phone, tablet or computer with a PDF reader, which almost all of them have. You can print it on a home printer if you want to, and most of it works fine read off a screen if you don't.
There is no copy protection on the file. It does carry your email address in small type at the foot of the pages. Privacy explains what that is and why.
Price and payment
The price is shown on the product page in pounds sterling and is the whole price. No VAT is added, no booking fee, no delivery charge.
Payment is taken by Stripe, who handle card payments for us. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. We never see or store your card number.
Your order exists once Stripe confirms the payment. If the payment fails, there is no order and you have not been charged.
Delivery
Straight away. The download link appears on screen as soon as the payment goes through, and an email with the same link follows within a minute or two.
The link works for 30 days and up to five downloads. That is enough to save the file to your phone, save it again to a laptop, and come back for it later. If it runs out or expires and you still want your copy, email hello@hourslikethese.com with your order reference and we will send you a fresh link. There is no charge for that and no time limit on asking.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder first, then email us. The most common cause by a distance is a typo in the address at checkout.
Your right to cancel, and why you will not have one
Normally, buying something online in the UK gives you 14 days to change your mind.
Digital content is the exception. If you ask for the download to start immediately and you accept that you are giving up that right, the right goes as soon as the download starts. At checkout you are asked to confirm exactly that, and you cannot buy without confirming it. Your confirmation is recorded against your order and repeated back to you in the confirmation email.
We refund you anyway if you ask. That promise is on the Refunds page. No law makes us offer it. It sits on top of the rights below and takes nothing away from them.
If the file is faulty or not as described
You have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that no wording on this page can remove. Digital content has to be of satisfactory quality, fit for its purpose, and as it was described to you. If it is not, you are entitled to have it put right, or to some or all of your money back.
In practice: tell us and we will fix it or refund you, usually the same day.
What you can do with the pack
It is yours, for your family, forever. Print it as many times as you like at home, on as many devices as your household uses, this year and in ten years.
It is not a thing to pass on, though. Please don't:
- send the file to other people, or post it anywhere it can be downloaded
- sell it, or any part of it
- use it in a business, a school, a nursery, a club or a paid activity session
If you want to use a pack with a group beyond your own family, email hello@hourslikethese.com. The answer is usually yes and the licence is cheap. We would rather sort that out than pretend it never happens.
We keep the copyright in everything in the pack.
Doing the activities safely
The packs involve cooking, hot pans, scissors and glue. They are written for a parent and a child to do together, and they assume an adult is in the room deciding what their own child is up to. You know your kitchen and your children; we don't.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence, or for fraud. Beyond that, if something goes wrong with the purchase itself, what we owe you is limited to the amount you paid for the pack. We are not liable for anything neither of us could have seen coming when you bought it.
The site
We try to keep hourslikethese.com up and working, but it is a small operation and we do not promise it will never be down. Packs may be changed, improved or withdrawn from sale. Withdrawing a pack does not affect anything you have already bought. Your download link keeps working for its 30 days, and after that we will still send you a fresh copy on request.
Complaints
Email hello@hourslikethese.com, tell us what happened, and give us your order reference. We will reply within two working days.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you keep the protection of your own law and can bring proceedings in your own courts.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them still stand.
We may change these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you bought.
